Smoke alarm helps prevent more damage in Hastings mobile home fire
An overnight fire could have turned out much worse if not for a working smoke alarm.
HASTINGS, Neb. — An overnight fire could have turned out much worse if not for a working smoke alarm.
Hastings Fire and Rescue responded to a fire call at Smitty’s Mobile Home Park around 10:30 Monday night. A news release says a smoke alarm alerted the one resident to the fire and they evacuated safely. Emergency responders checked the person for smoke inhalation but the person declined to be transported to a hospital.
According to the news release, the home is still livable after cleaning and limited repairs. Crews stayed on scene until nearly 2:00 a.m. to complete their work.
Investigators say the fire was accidental and caused by smoking around combustibles.
