Williams' big night leads Huskers past UTRGV, 87-67
LINCOLN, Neb. - A year after their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in over a decade, Nebraska Men's Basketball is off to a 1-0 start to the season.
Nebraska knocked off UTRGV 87-67 on Monday night behind a game high 27 points from Brice Williams, who Head Coach Fred Hoiberg says will have to be major leader this year for the Huskers.
"100%, leadership is going to be a big part of Brice's role this year," Hoiberg said. "His main role is to put the ball in the basket, it was great to see him get to the free throw line, good first overall game for Brice."
Williams went 10/11 at the free throw line, while shooting 44% from the field. As a whole, Nebraska shot 49% from the field, while also out rebounding UTRGV 42-32.
It was also a nice night for Rollie Worster who ended the night a rebound shy of a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds.
Nebraska hosts Bethune-Cookman at 7:00 p.m. CT on Saturday.
