Three-vehicle accident leaves two dead, one injured
SCHUYLER, Neb. -- Authorities say they responded to an accident that killed two people and injured one.
The three-vehicle accident happened around 1:45 p.m. on Oct. 31 on Highway 15, just south of Schuyler.
The Colfax County Sheriff's Office said that 65-year-old Ben Syring of Linwood and 56-year-old Griselda Ramos-Herrera of Omaha died in a head on collision.
The Sheriff's Office said that Syring was driving south on Highway 15 in a Ford F150, and Ramos-Herrera was driving north on Highway 15 in a Chevy Cruz.
It was reported that the vehicles had a head on collision that resulted in the death of both drivers, both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials said there were no other other occupants in either vehicle.
CCSO said there was a third-vehicle driving north behind the initial accident scene and was reportedly unable to avoid hitting the F150, causing a secondary collision.
The driver of the third vehicle was treated for minor injuries at the scene and was released.
Authorities said that next of kin have been notified.
CCSO said the Nebraska State Patrol is conducting an accident reconstruction of the accident, those results are pending.
