COLUMBUS, Neb. -- Authorities in Platte County investigated a possible school shooting that was deemed non credible. 

In a press release at 9:36 a.m., the Columbus Police Department said they responded to a report of three students shot in the math room at Scotus Central Catholic High School. 

CPD said they responded to the call around 9:10 a.m.

According to CPD Capt. Doug Molczyk, CPD officers responded and are currently on scene. 

A separate press release at 9:47 a.m., said that CPD cleared the building and didn't find anything to substantiate the report.

“The Columbus Police would like to thank the administration and the student body of Scotus Central Catholic High School for their cooperation during this situation,” Molczyk said.

Similar calls were received in Hastings, Kearney, Grand Island, Lincoln, Freemont, Gering, and Omaha

Authorities said a trend of hoax active shooter calls have been hitting 911 call centers this week. 

Officials said the call is typically a male of Middle Eastern descent and claims to be in a school building witnessing a shooting. 

The calls have been unsubstantiated, according to authorities.
