Baylee and Brynn Settje have a special connection as twins, one that in their case extends to the basketball court.

Playing crucial roles, the Settje twins have helped the Clarkson/Leigh girls basketball team to a 9-3 record and a No. 9 ranking in the latest News Channel Nebraska Class C-2 girls basketball poll.

Girls basketball head coach Matt Murren said what makes their dynamic special is that while they're similar in a lot of ways, they're uniquely different as basketball players.

The twins have been able to find each other on and off the court, in good times and when things go sideways.

"If one of us is down, we kind of can pick each other up because we just know each other like that," Baylee said.

Not everyone can be so lucky to have a set of teammates quite like that.

"It's a great opportunity because we get to push each other in practice," Brynn said. "Many people don't get the opportunity that we have."

Both Baylee and Brynn Settje will play this weekend in the Clarkson/Leigh double-header against Pender.

The girls game between the No. 9 Patriots and top-ranked Pendragons is set to tip-off Saturday, Jan. 14, at 2:00 p.m. in Pender, with the boys game following afterwards. Both games can be viewed live on News Channel Nebraska.
