CCH nurses recognized for professional development achievements

(COLUMBUS, Neb.) – Columbus Community Hospital recently completed the third year of its Professional Development Program.
Despite the challenges of 2020 and 2021, four nurses at CCH completed the program — Bethany Gifford, Heather Elton, Shanon Fittje, and Micala Dempcy.
“I want to congratulate Bethany, Heather, Shanon, and Micala for completing the 2021 Professional Development Program,” said Mike Hansen, president, and CEO at Columbus Community Hospital. “It was a yearlong commitment, and we are very proud of their hard work and dedication to the program.”
The Professional Development Program recognizes nursing staff members who have chosen to go above and beyond their regular duties to influence their profession and CCH, while also continuing to provide direct patient care at the bedside.
The goal of the program is to encourage and support nurses as they engage in educational opportunities that provide them with a greater sense of community. These opportunities allow them to enhance the quality of their nursing care, clinical expertise, and leadership skills.
“I am very proud of the nurses who undertook the huge challenge of the Professional Development Program,” said Dorothy Bybee, vice president of nursing and patient care services. “This is not easy, but everyone benefits — the nurse, and certainly the organization.”
