COLUMBUS -- A college in northeast Nebraska is seeing a major upgrade.

Set to be complete in 2022, the Columbus Community Hospital Center for Science and Technology at Central Community College will offer four innovative and futuristic science labs for various subjects such as chemistry and biology. Plus, it will offer innovative classrooms to train nursing aids and more.

Columbus Campus President Dr. Kathy Fuchser told NCN this project is a priority.

"It really is a critical addition to our campus so we can continue to serve those health professions," she said.

The project costs $13.1 million dollars.

Students will start using it in January after a "soft-opening," according to Fuchser, followed by an official opening ceremony later.
