Lakeview downs Kearney Catholic, advance to title game for first time since 1990

KEARNEY - Lakeview is one win away from winning the first football state title in school history.

The Vikings used stout defense, power running, and big plays to hand Kearney Catholic its first loss of the season, defeating the Starts 31-21.

Adam Van Cleave led Lakeview with 180 yards receiving and two two touchdowns, while also adding 40 yards and another score on the ground.

This victory marks the second time in program history the Vikings have advanced to the state final. The first time being in 1990 when Lakeview fell to Mount Michael 14-7.

Lakeview and Pierce will play for the C1 title on Tuesday, November 23. The two met earlier this season with Pierce coming out on top 28-27.
