Sjuts twins lead Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family to comeback, OT title game win
Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family rallied from down 13 points in the third quarter to force overtime and beat Howells-Dodge 52-47 in the Class D-1 championship game.
LINCOLN - Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family rallied from down 13 points in the third quarter to force overtime and beat Howells-Dodge 52-47 in the Class D-1 championship game.
Blake Sindelar helped carry Howells-Dodge (20-9) to a 24-15 lead at halftime. The Bulldogs (23-5) found more offensive success in the third quarter but couldn't get stops and trailed by 10 entering the fourth.
Then, the stops came and the ball started to drop for H/LHF. Sage Frauendorfer tied the game at 42-42 with a reverse layup in the final 15 seconds of regulation to force OT.
Howells-Dodge managed a couple of baskets in the extra period but H/LHF went 8-13 at the free-throw line to seal the game.
6-foot-5 twins Jacob and Jason Sjuts combined for 37 of the Bulldogs' points. Jacob collected a game-high 20 rebounds.
The victory marks the second championship in the last three years for H/LHF.
