Columbus Named Second-Best City In Nebraska
COLUMBUS - Columbus was recently recognized as one of the best cities in the state of Nebraska.
CHAMBEROFCOMMERCE.ORG has released its list of the top ten cities in Nebraska, and Columbus landed at #2. A write-up describes Columbus as a pleasant city in Platte County with a strong economy for a city its size, bolstered by the presence of many manufacturing centers, including those by Cargill, Vishay Intertechnology, and Archer Daniels Midland.
The list's methodology states that the organization ranked a total of 2,509 qualified cities (those with populations above 25,000 and enough data for analysis) by five factors: employment (number of establishments, median earnings); housing (owner-occupied housing with a mortgage, monthly housing costs); quality of life (work commute, poverty levels); education (percentage with a bachelor's degree or higher); and health (obesity ratios).
The list from #1-#10 went as follows: Papillion, Columbus, Omaha, Kearney, North Platte, Bellevue, Hastings, Norfolk, Fremont, Grand Island.
