Crawford man's case bound over to District Court
Facing two felony charges
The case against a Crawford, Ne., man has been bound over to Cheyenne County District Court.
William J. Gilliam, 40, of Crawford, was arrested March 1 on charges of
1. 28-416(3) Possess controlled substance: STAT
2. 28-416(11) Possess marijuana over 1 oz to 1 pound: STAT FILED
3. 28-1206(3)(A) Possess deadly weapon-prohibited person: STAT
4. 28-441 Possess or use drug paraphernalia: STAT,
He appeared in Cheyenne County Court Monday on charges of Possession of a Deadly Weapon (Class 3 Felony) and Possession of Methamphetamine (Class 4 Felony).
The case on both charges was bound over to Cheyenne County District Court today before Judge Randin Roland. Arraignment in District Court is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Gilliam is one of four people contacted by a Cheyenne County Sheriff’s deputy in a station wagon alongside U.S. 385 north of Sidney. The car was seen parked west facing the highway when the deputy approached the car. According to court records, the female driver said she stopped the car to make a phone call.
The car was searched while two teenagers and the woman driver were detained in the patrol vehicle. Gilliam admitted having methamphetamine in the car. He told the deputy everything found in the car was his.
