SIDNEY -- Hometown Liquor donated nearly $2,000 to the local Toys for Tots program.

The Southern Nebraska Panhandle Toys for Tots-Cheyenne & Kimball Counties were presented a $1,932 check Wednesday.

A total of 2,747 contributions were made for the Southern Nebraska Panhandle Toys for Tots -- Cheyenne & Kimball Counties for a total of $1,431.03. Hometown Liquor  matched the first $500, for a grand total of $1,931.03 rounded up to $1,932.

For November, Hometown Liquor is Rounding Up to buy movie tickets for kids at  the Fox Theatre in Sidney. 
 
Toys for Tots began in 1947 as the inspiration of Marine Corps Reserve Major Bill Hendricks. His wife, Diane, had a few handcrafted dolls and asked Bill to deliver them to an agency that supports children in need.
 

The U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is directed by the Commander, Marine Forces Reserve, with the assistance of his staff from the Marine Forces Reserve.
