Chadron State stays perfect in RMAC play with 35-10 win over South Dakota Mines

RAPID CITY, S.D. - Chadron State College extended its winning streak to seven games and remained unbeaten in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play with a 35-10 win over South Dakota Mines on Saturday afternoon in Rapid City.
The Hardrockers jumped out to a 10-7 first-quarter lead before the Eagles scored 28 unanswered points to close out the game. With the win, Chadron State improved to 7-2 overall and 7-0 in the RMAC — their first seven-game conference win streak since 2008, when they finished 9-0 and claimed the league title.
Quarterback Aidan Thompson completed 19 of 31 passes for 244 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Tommy Thomas caught 11 passes for 136 yards, including a 43-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter that put the Eagles on the board. Thomas now has 61 receptions for 746 yards and 12 touchdowns this season.
Garet Schlabs added a 33-yard touchdown catch, and Rollin George III scored on a 25-yard strike before halftime to give Chadron State a 21-10 lead at the break. The Eagles’ defense sealed the win in the fourth quarter with a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown by linebacker Logan O’Brien and a one-yard rushing score by Anthony McMillian.
Chadron State finished with 428 total yards, including 169 on the ground. The Eagles return home Saturday, Nov. 8, to host Western Colorado (8-1, 6-1 RMAC) on Senior Day at Elliott Field.

Chadron State falls in to New Mexico Highlands
CHADRON — Despite a strong offensive showing and nine team blocks, Chadron State College came up just short in a straight-sets loss to New Mexico Highlands on Saturday at the Chicoine Center, falling 25-21, 25-20, 25-23.
The Eagles hit .240 or better in all three sets and finished with a .248 team attack percentage — their fifth-best mark of the season and second-highest in a loss. CSC recorded 38 kills with only 11 errors.
Junior Bella Adams led the Eagles with 10 kills on 21 swings, hitting a match-best .476 with no errors. Junior Mataya Ward matched her with 10 kills, adding four blocks. Middle blocker Chloe Grady contributed six total blocks, including two solo.
Chadron State pushed the Cowgirls late in each set but couldn’t overcome key scoring runs. The Eagles tied the first set at 21-21 before Highlands closed with four straight points. In the second, Chadron State led early before the Cowgirls pulled ahead with a pair of service aces. The Eagles rallied in the third to save three match points before Highlands finally sealed it, 25-23.
Freshman setter Jillian Donovan totaled 14 assists and three digs, while redshirt sophomore Cydnie Eskew added 13 assists and five digs.
With the loss, the Eagles fell to 5-17 overall. New Mexico Highlands improved to 11-12 after completing a weekend sweep. Chadron State travels next weekend to face Westminster on Friday and Colorado Mesa on Saturday.
