Chadron Sweeps Triangular, Sidney Splits, Bridgeport Falls Twice

CHADRON – The host Chadron Cardinals went unbeaten Tuesday night at the Chadron Triangular, defeating both Sidney and Bridgeport. Sidney salvaged a split on the night, while Bridgeport came up short in both of its matches.
Match 1 – Chadron 2, Sidney 1
The Cardinals opened the night with a hard-fought win over Sidney, taking the match 25-16, 15-25, 25-19. After the teams split the first two sets, Chadron stormed ahead 16-7 in the third. Sidney battled back with a 10-3 run to pull within 19-17, but the Cardinals closed strong with a 6-2 finish to secure the victory.
Paige Slingsby powered Chadron with 10 kills on .316 hitting. Sidney was led by Reagan Nesbitt with nine kills, while Jordynn Schnell added six on .385 efficiency.
Match 2 – Sidney 2, Bridgeport 1
The Lady Raiders rebounded in their second contest, rallying after dropping the opening set to defeat Bridgeport 13-25, 25-14, 25-18. The Bulldogs controlled the first set behind an early 11-4 run and closed with a 12-4 surge to go up 1-0. Sidney flipped the momentum in the second, racing to leads of 8-2 and 15-5 before coasting to the win. The Raiders again seized control in the third, building a 17-7 cushion and holding on for the match victory.
Nesbitt led Sidney with eight kills, and Schnell chipped in seven. Bridgeport was paced by Kendal Deaver and Fallon DeBlois, who each tallied nine kills.
Match 3 – Chadron 2, Bridgeport 0
Chadron capped the triangular with a dominant sweep of Bridgeport, winning 25-17, 25-12. The Cardinals built commanding leads of 23-10 in the opener and 23-11 in the second set on their way to the 2-0 decision. Slingsby once again led the way, finishing with nine kills on a .438 attack percentage. Jailyn Nichols had four kills to lead the Bulldogs.
Final Results: Chadron 2-0, Sidney 1-1, Bridgeport 0-2.
Bridgeport is back in action on Thursday when the travel to Perkins County to face the Plainsmen. Freshman begins at 4:00 p.m., Junior Varsity at 5:00 p.m. followed by the Varsity at 6:00 p.m.
Sidney is back on the court Thursday when they host Alliance at the Cabela’s Athletic Facility.
