PAPILLION, Neb. (AP) - A man convicted of killing his longtime girlfriend in an Omaha suburb has been sentenced to decades in prison. Omaha television station KETV reports that 57-year-old Alan Stack was sentenced Tuesday in Sarpy County District Court to 80 years to life in prison for second-degree murder in the November 2017 death of 51-year-old Beverly Bauermeister. Police say Bauermeister may have lain dead in her home for a week before family members found her. She had been beaten to death.
GERING, Neb. (AP) - A Nebraska Panhandle county board must decide how to return more than $413,000 that it erroneously received for cable television franchising fees. The Scottsbluff Star-Herald reports that Allo Communications paid the fees for nine years to Scotts Bluff County instead of to the cities of Gering, Scottsbluff and Terrytown, as well as the county. County officials apparently weren't aware of the error.
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Authorities say a 17-month-old boy pulled from a backyard pool has died at an Omaha hospital. The Sarpy County Sheriff's Office said in a news release Tuesday that Kingston Goracke died Monday night at Children's Hospital & Medical Center.
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) - A man has been given 20 months for the death of a pedestrian in North Platte. Lincoln County District Court records say 34-year-old Ryan Baade was sentenced Monday and credited for 206 days already served. Police say 65-year-old David Kohlmeier was struck while crossing a street around 6:45 a.m. on Jan. 25 by a vehicle that fled the scene. Authorities say Baade was driving the vehicle and went home after hitting Kohlmeier.
