Bridgeport speech team wins Class C/D title at Perkins County meet

GRANT, Neb. — The Bridgeport High School speech team captured first place overall and earned the Class C/D championship at the Perkins County Speech Meet held Saturday in Grant.
Bridgeport finished atop the team standings behind a balanced performance across multiple events, with several Bulldogs placing in the finals and earning individual honors.
Aaron Cooper led Bridgeport with a third-place finish in humorous prose, along with fourth-place results in oral interpretation of drama and duet acting. Kendal Deaver added a fifth-place finish in program of oral interpretation and placed fourth in oral interpretation of drama.
Lizzy Higgins placed sixth in persuasive speaking and eighth in oral interpretation of drama, while Annabel Sauer earned a seventh-place finish in persuasive. Drake Devrous finished eighth in both persuasive and oral interpretation of drama.
Jane Plummer placed eighth in informative speaking and oral interpretation of drama, earning Top Novice honors in informative. Emily Hunter finished 10th in extemporaneous speaking and placed fourth in both duet acting and oral interpretation of drama.
Ben Babic, Alexis Liras, Mila Soto and Emma Dohse each recorded fourth- or eighth-place finishes in oral interpretation of drama to round out Bridgeport’s scoring efforts.
