National Weather Service issues Cold Weather Advisory

The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for Western Nebraska communities. Wind Chill temperatures could reach 15 below to 25 below zero.

URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Cheyenne WY 236 PM MST Thu Jan 22 2026 NEZ002-003-021-055-095-231200- /O.CON.KCYS.CW.Y.0002.260123T0700Z-260124T1900Z/ Dawes County-Box Butte County-Morrill County-Cheyenne County- Northern Sioux County- Including the cities of Chadron, Alliance, Angora, Hemingford, Harrison, Bayard, Bridgeport, Redington, Brownson, Sidney, and Chadron St Park 236 PM MST Thu Jan 22 2026 ...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO NOON MST SATURDAY... * WHAT...Very cold wind chills between 15 below to 25 below expected. * WHERE...Box Butte County, Cheyenne County, Dawes County, Morrill County, and Northern Sioux County. * WHEN...From midnight tonight to noon MST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 25 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.
