No. 1 Nebraska sweeps No. 25 Penn State to move to 29-0
LINCOLN, Neb. — The top-ranked Nebraska volleyball team moved one win away from a perfect regular season Friday night with a 25-14, 25-11, 25-14 sweep of No. 25 Penn State at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
Playing before a crowd of 8,537 for a blackout match, the Huskers (29-0, 19-0 Big Ten) completed their first season sweep of the Nittany Lions (17-12, 11-8) in program history. Penn State never reached 16 points in any of the six sets played between the teams this year.
Harper Murray led Nebraska with 11 kills, seven digs and four blocks while hitting .476. Rebekah Allick added nine kills on .750 hitting with four blocks, and Andi Jackson finished with six kills and four blocks. Virginia Adriano posted five kills and two aces, and Taylor Landfair added five kills.
Setter Bergen Reilly recorded 29 assists and 12 digs, and Laney Choboy added 11 digs.
Nebraska dominated statistically, hitting .385 to Penn State’s .011 while leading in kills (39-23), blocks (9-2), digs (41-23) and aces (7-0). The Huskers sided out on 36 of 41 opportunities — an 87.8 percent rate.
Nebraska, already the Big Ten champion, will close the regular season Saturday night against Ohio State. A win would give the Huskers their third undefeated regular season and first since 2000. Senior night ceremonies will follow the match.
