MADISON, Neb. - Three northeast Nebraska attorneys will be considered to fill a vacant county judgeship.
The Judicial Nominating Commission on Tuesday advanced the applications of Patrick Carney of Norfolk, Chelsey Hartner of Madison and Dennis Morland of Norfolk to Gov. Jim Pillen. The governor will then select who fills the position, which is open after Judge Mike Long was appointed to a district judge post.

This is the second attempt to send candidates to the governor. The first try to solicit candidates only garnered two applications. The commission deemed there weren't enough qualified applicants and restarted the process.
