City completes growth fund loan for salmon farm
NEBRASKA CITY – Nebraska City commissioners approved the final installment of a $1 million growth fund loan to GoodLife Agriculture on Monday.
GoodLife Agriculture is constructing a $190 million facility expected to create up to 60 local jobs.

Nebraska City, Neb. - On Monday, the Nebraska City Commissioners approved the release of the final installment of a $1 million partial forgivable loan (based on contingencies) to GoodLife Agriculture, funded through the city’s economic growth initiatives. The investment marks another step in a growing partnership between the city and GoodLife Agriculture, built on shared vision and trust in a project unlike any other in the region’s history.
GoodLife Agriculture is constructing a state-of-the-art $190 million facility, expected to create 40 to 60 local jobs and offer opportunities for future expansion. The project is poised to bring lasting economic benefits and strengthen Nebraska City’s tax base for years to come.
Mayor Bryan Bequette shared his enthusiasm for the project, saying, “The level of investment and the scale of GoodLife Agriculture’s initiative is incredibly exciting for our town and will have a lasting economic impact for generations to come.” He noted that the project represents not only economic growth, but also sustainable opportunities for the entire community.
With an annual processing capacity of more than 6.6 million pounds of Atlantic salmon, GoodLife Agriculture projects a 22% increase in Nebraska City’s tax base. This growth demonstrates the company’s commitment to the area and its confidence in Nebraska City’s future.
Lisa Walker, Executive Director of the Nebraska City Area Economic Development Corporation, highlighted the project’s importance, noting that the $190 million investment is unprecedented in scale and that this loan represents the largest in Nebraska City’s LB840 history.
