Congratulations to the local athletes and teams who will be competing in the 2025 Nebraska Girls Golf State Championships at locations across the state this week! Norris will represent Southeast Nebraska in the Class B field this week, while EMF will compete in Class C, a field that also features Catherine Wendt of Johnson County Central, who qualified as an individual.

District Roundup:

There is a strong history of golf success at both Norris and Exeter-Milligan/Friend on both the boys and girls sides of the fairway - and the girls teams extended that success with district championships last weekend.

The Titans captured the B-4 district title last Monday at Pioneers Golf Course in Lincoln in a team race that went right down to the wire: Norris ended up with a team score of 356, fending off Scottsbluff (357) by literally one stroke to win the team title and book their collective spot in the Class B state championship this week - which is being played, somewhat ironically, in Scottsbluff.

The Titans will be led by senior Natalie Shield, a state medalist from last year, who barely lost out to Addison Peck of Scottsbluff for the individual district title. Junior Estelle Koehlmoos and senior Jolei Skov also qualified for the individual field at state this week by finishing fifth and sixth in districts, respectively; sophomore Hayden Heiss and junior Mackenzie Jantzen round out the team that will try to lead Norris to a state title this week under coach James Myers. All five Norris athletes will start at Hole #1 Monday in Scottsbluff, with Jantzen the first to tee off at 9 AM and the rest to follow before 10.

In Class C, EMF finished second as a team in the C-1 district championship at Lincoln's Hidden Valley Golf Course last week. The Bobcats shot a flat 420 as a team, behind Sutton (408) and in front of Lincoln Christian (422), and more than good enough to qualify for the team field.

Junior Abigail Klooz paced EMF with a score of 94 in the district championship, good for third in the field. Senior Hadley Sladek placed eighth (101) to qualify to compete for the individual title this week in North Platte; they will be joined in the field by Johnson County Central senior Catherine Wendt, who finished ninth in that district (104).

EMF will field a different fivesome this week than they did last week at districts: freshman Bristol Sladek, senior Dylen Collier, and freshman Kate Pribyl round out the team of five that will help EMF vie for the team title starting Monday morning. Hadley Sladek is first to tee off at 9 AM; Pribyl is last at 10:57; Wendt starts at 9:27.

Scores from the Class B field and the Class C field will be updated throughout the week from their respective sites. This story will also be updated as the tournaments progress.
