Severe thunderstorm watch issued for western Nebraska, northeast Colorado

SIDNEY — The National Weather Service says parts of western Nebraska and northeast Colorado are under a severe thunderstorm watch Tuesday evening, with storms capable of producing large hail, damaging winds, heavy rainfall and an isolated tornado.
The watch is in effect until 9 p.m. MDT / 10 p.m. CDT for 29 Nebraska counties, including Cheyenne, Deuel, Garden, Morrill, Keith, Lincoln and Red Willow. Colorado counties under the watch include Logan, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington and Yuma.
The Weather Service said multiple lines of thunderstorms began moving across the region Tuesday morning, with the threat of severe weather increasing in the afternoon and evening hours.
Periods of rain showers, isolated thunderstorms and cooler temperatures are expected to continue into Thursday before a gradual warming trend returns this weekend.
The watch includes cities such as Sidney, North Platte, Ogallala, McCook, Alliance, Imperial and Sterling.
