Boone Central beats Battle Creek in record-setting fashion
BATTLE CREEK - Boone Central High School has a long, storied tradition of great running backs.
But none of them accomplished what Brogan Benes did on Friday.
The senior became the first 300-yd rusher in Cardinal history, racking up 304 yards on just nine carries in Boone Central's dominant 49-21 win over Battle Creek.
Benes' rushing total broke the school record of 283 he set just last year against St. Paul.
But it wasn't just the 185-pound senior. The Cardinal offense was as dominant as any team has been at Bob Schnitzler Field...amassing 551 total yards on just 29 snaps...an eye-popping 19 yards per play.
