Court documents detail Omaha human and sex trafficking conspiracies
OMAHA - Federal court documents are revealing more information that breaks down what happened leading up to Tuesday's events.
According to the criminal complaint, the crimes have been happening since at least 2020.
Employees at the four hotels in question told investigators they were forced to work long hours with little to no compensation. They were asked on some occasions to pay rent for their rooms. If the workers or other guests couldn't pay, they were forced into sexual acts with management.
The complaint alleges that hotel employees used company money to pay underage guests for sexual acts.
Sources and guests reported that managers turned a blind eye to drug activity in the hotel. On some occasions, they received money to ignore it.
Investigators believe the Norfolk resident, Maheshkumar Chaudhari, was responsible for moving money as well as getting and keeping people in the country. He lived in the 400 block of Blaine St. A neighbor told NCN that FBI agents were at the home early Tuesday morning.
FBI officials say years-worth of tips from the public helped build the case.
