Eagles Notes: Summers Resigns As CSC Women's Wrestling Coach
CHADRON, Neb. – Chadron State College Athletics announced Tuesday that women's wrestling head coach Taylor Summers has resigned his position in order to pursue another coaching opportunity.
"It's bittersweet to leave Chadron State and all the people that make this place special," Summers said. "My family and I are grateful for the love and support we've received since stepping onto campus. I am thankful for my coaching staff and all the time and effort they have poured into this program."
Summers, the second-ever coach of the CSC women's wrestling program, spent two seasons in charge of the Eagles and helped true freshman Esther Peters become the first All-American in program history this past March with a seventh-place finish at the NCWWC National Championships.
"I want to thank Coach Summers for his hard work to elevate Chadron State women's wrestling during his time here," athletic director Mannie Reinsch said. "I wish Taylor and his family all the best in their next chapter."
Summers compiled a 9-11 dual record with CSC. This past season, the Eagles finished third in the team standings at the RMAC Women's Wrestling Championships, another high mark in the program's history.
"I am most proud of the young women I have been fortunate enough to coach," Summers said. "They have paved the way and set the standard of what it truly means to be a Chadron State women's wrestler. I look forward to watching this program continue to move forward and our girls becoming the best they can be."
A national search for a new women's wrestling coach is underway.
Yeradi Named To Elite 100 Watch List
CHADRON, Neb. – Chadron State safety Dax Yeradi earned a preseason national honor as he was named to D2Football.com's Elite 100 Watch List, announced Sunday by the organization.
Yeradi, who was previously named to the Preseason All-RMAC team after garnering All-RMAC and All-Region honors last season, is listed as a "squad" member for the defensive team. Chadron State is one of only four RMAC schools with a player on the list in 2025.
The 100-player national watch list includes 25 first-team players and 25 second-team players (11 offense, 11 defense, 3 special teams), then 50 "squad" players (25 offense, 25 defense). Squad players are equivalent to "honorable mention" selections in similar national recognition lists.
Yeradi turned heads after finishing the 2024 season with 51 tackles, four pass breakups and four interceptions to tie for the RMAC lead. He served as a catalyst for a stingy Eagles unit that finished with the second-best total defense (allowing 288 yards per game) and third-best scoring defense (allowing 19.3 points per game) in the RMAC.
2025 will mark the third straight season that Chadron State has had an Elite 100 Watchlist selection, after now-graduated defensive end Hunter O'Connor appeared on the list in the previous two seasons.
As a conference, the RMAC claimed nine of the 100 spots. Defending league champion CSU Pueblo had four, with first-team selections on offense (wide receiver Reggie Retzlaff) and defense (defensive back Donovan English), as well as squad selections for offensive lineman Tyler Ethridge and linebacker Gary Seidenberger.
Western Colorado followed with two selections – first-team defensive lineman Ricky Freymond and second-team quarterback Drew Nash. CSU Pueblo and Western Colorado will enter the season as the RMAC's two nationally ranked teams, with the Pack at No. 6 and WCU at No. 10 in the just-released AFCA Coaches Poll.
Colorado School of Mines, who received votes in that poll, had the final two RMAC inclusions. The Orediggers received a first-team spot for wide receiver Flynn Schiele while Jackson Zimmerman joined Yeradi among the squad defensive backs.
Fall camp is underway for Chadron State football, which begins the season on the road against Division I opponent Northern Colorado on Saturday, August 30. The Eagles' home opener will be two weeks later on Saturday, September 13 against Black Hills State.
