UPDATE: Columbus Man Fatally Shot in Walmart Parking Lot; Stepson in Custody

COLUMBUS, NEB. - A Columbus man was shot dead after a shooting in a Walmart parking lot on Tuesday
At approximately 6:20 p.m., the Columbus Police Department responded to a call of a shooting in the Walmart parking lot.
“Upon arrival, officers located a male victim lying on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. Officers immediately rendered aid until Columbus Fire Department medics arrived on scene,” CPD Capt. Doug Molczyk said.
The victim has been identified as Anhil David Mirabal Hernandez, 42, of Columbus. He was transported to Columbus Community Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Soon after the incident, the suspect, identified as Manuel Alejandro Mesa Cabera, 25, turned himself into the Columbus Police Department. During the investigation, it was determined that Hernandez was Cabrera’s stepfather.
Cabera was charged with First-Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm to Commit a Felony. He was later arrested and sent to the Platte County Detention Facility.
The incident is still under investigation.
