Tight races and record-setting times highlight Class C and D state track and field final
OMAHA - Some races came down to a fraction of a second and some familiar names turned in some dominant performances on the final day of the 2025 state track and field meet.
Athletes from Classes C and D dealt with a shifting wind and occasional light sprinkles to finish out the meet. Kearney Catholic and Dundy County-Stratton won the girls team titles and showcased some of the top competitors in the state. For the Stars, Hazel Haarberg won the 100M, 200M and long jump along with finishing second in the 4x100M relay. Alyssa Onnen followed up her record-setting pole vault effort from Friday with a gold medal in triple jump and a strong leg on the 4x100. For the Tigers, Clara Spargo won the 100M, 200M, 400M and the 4x100M relay. Three of Spargo's finals runs set meet records. Kennedy Bailey won the discus, shot put and ran a leg of the winning 4x100M relay.
On the boys side, Perkins County won in Class C and Dundy County-Stratton took the team title in Class D. Mason McGreer was the star for the Plainsmen with gold medals in the 1600M and 3200M. For the Tigers, Laken Wissink won the 100M, 200M and was on the 4x100M relay team that set a meet record.
