SIDNEY -- The Sidney School District Board of Education approved three staff resignations and three teaching contracts in Monday night's meeting.

Kelly Meier submitted her resignation as a West Elementary 4th Grade teacher, effective at the end of the 2024-2025 school year. In her letter, she said she was presented the opportunity to teach in the same district as her children.

"Thank you and the District again for the support and experience over the years. I will truly miss working with the team. I wish the school and district continued success," she said her her letter to West Principal Bryan Schoening.

West Elementary Special Education teacher Christina Lilley submitted her resignation.

"The decision comes with a heavy heart, as I have truly cherished every moment spent working with my students, colleagues, and the Sidney Public School community. Being part of this district has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and I feel honored to have contributed to our mission of supporting student growth and success," she said in her resignation letter.

Soni Schilz is resigning as a South Elementary School First Grade teacher. 

"After much thought and consideration, I have decided to resign from my position at Sidney Public Schools, effective at the conclusion of the 2024-2025 contract year. It has been a privilege to contribute to the education and development of the students," she said in her resignation letter.

The board then approved Tiffany Hobson as a fourth grade teacher, Tim Flohrs as an automotive teacher, and Madison Emmett-Jenkins as Sidney Middle School English teacher.

At the end of Monday's meeting, the board also thanked Rick and Erin Meyer for their commitment to Sidney Public Schools. Rick Meyer resigned as South Elementary Principal. On January 31, Lakeview Community School District announced Rick Meyer had accepted an offer as superintendent. The board accepted Erin Meyer's resignation in the March board meeting.
