Several departments respond to fire near Mitchell
A grass fire ignited near Mitchell Tuesday afternoon. Several departments responded, containing the fire. Mitchell Fire is staying at the scene through the night.

MITCHELL, Ne. -- At about 12:55 p.m., authorities were notified of a grass fire south of Mitchell, NE.
At 6:46 p.m., Region 22 Emergency Manager Rob Crowder said the Incident Commander reported the fire was mapped at 250 acres. Crowder said 14 fire departments, the Scotts Bluff County Road & Bridge and Regional West EMS responded to the fire. The City of Mitchell and the Nebraska Forest Service assisted with the fire as well.
Supporting fire departments were released from the scene with the Mitchell Fire Department monitoring the scene overnight.
As of 7:25 p.m. February 25, one structure was lost in the fire. No injuries have been reported.
