COLUMBUS, Neb. -- A Columbus man was arrested for multiple charges including attempted second-degree murder.

On Monday, the Platte County Sheriff's Office said they responded to a report at the intersection of Highway 81 and Highway 30, south of Columbus, for an assault that had taken place there.

The Sheriff's Office said that when deputies arrived they spoke with a 21-year-old woman, who reported that her and her boyfriend were traveling in a vehicle when she was assaulted.

It was reported that along with being assaulted, her boyfriend allegedly attempted to assault her with the vehicle when she had gotten out.

PCSO said the boyfriend was identified as 34-year-old Tobias Jochum. He reportedly fled the scene before deputies arrived.

Later Monday morning, authorities reportedly found Jochum in Butler County and returned him to Platte County were PCSO deputies took him into custody.

Jochum was then taken to the Platte County Detention Facility where officials said he was jailed on multiple charges - attempted second-degree murder, attempted voluntary manslaughter, attempted first-degree assault, criminal mischief, leaving the scene of an accident, and willful reckless driving.

Authorities said that as of 9 a.m. Tuesday morning, Jochum was still in custody at the Platte County Detention Facility and has a bond set for $75,000.

This is an ongoing investigation, and remains under investigation by PCSO.
