COLUMBUS - The Columbus Fire Department battled a blaze that engulfed a camper at Ag Park on Wednesday evening.

Around 6:00 PM, Columbus Fire and Rescue was called to Ag Park with reports of a camper being fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the singular camper, and were able to successfully put it out before the entire camper was destroyed.

Area residents say that the camper was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and that neighbors initially assisted with battling the flames until rescue crews arrived. The Platte County Sheriff's Office also responded to the call, and no injuries were reported as a result of the blaze.

The exact cause of the fire is unknown at this time, and the incident remains under investigation by both the Columbus Fire Department and the State Fire Marshall.
